FAQs

  • Did you know the drawing room used to be an alternative name for a living room? Plus, we draw here (among other creative activities). The Drawing Room is meant to be your home away from home in the city… a space to spark creativity, joy, and new connections. Come hang out with us 🥰.

  • Drawing Room is located in Chelsea, Manhattan in a somewhat hidden location!

    Address: 247 W 30th St,

    #9R (9th floor, right door)

    New York, NY 10001.

You will need the code 1223 for the small keypad at the lobby door to enter the building. See more instructions on opening the door!

  • Unfortunately, we don’t current offer gifting options. You can purchase a ticket and have it transferred to the person of your choice, just email us at info@nycdrawingroom.com! Gifting options coming shortly.

  • Currently, small dogs under 30 pounds are allowed at Open Hours only (no dogs at other events, please). We ask that your dog is friendly with other dogs and humans. Please also note that our space is entirely covered in rugs; please use good judgement to determine if your pup is a good fit! If you have any specific questions, please reach out to info@nycdrawingroom.com.

  • Experiences at the Drawing Room were designed to facilitate meeting and connecting with new people, so don’t hesitate to come solo! In fact, many of our previous attendees have come alone. Everyone ends up chatting with one another, even introverts have a great time! You’re also more than welcome to bring friends, significant other, etc. but ask that you come with an open mind about connecting with other folks in the group to maintain the friendly environment 🙂 Please see Private Events for groups of 6 or more – we’d be more than happy to accommodate you with a dedicated experience.

  • All Drawing Room workshops are designed to be open-level. They are extremely beginner-friendly and are great to learn and build foundational skills!

  • Events at the Drawing Room are still small, intimate events! They sell out quickly. We highly recommend buying the number of tickets you want all together if you’d like to ensure you and your friend(s) are in the same session. The remaining number of spots is listed for each event on the ticket page.

We are more than happy to accommodate for larger groups (any group of 8 or more) – please get in touch and we can organize a dedicated experience for you. We can also accommodate private events, including corporate events, birthday parties, and more. Please reach out to info@nycdrawingroom.com to plan your event with us!

  • No, but sold-out events open up to a waitlist. If we are able to fill your spot from the waitlist, we will be able to credit your ticket for use on a future event. Alternatively, you can transfer your ticket to someone else that can attend the event in your place up to 24 hours before the event time. Please contact us to make this request. We will need the name and email of the new attendee to whom you wish to transfer your ticket.

Outside of these options, we are still a relatively new operation and unfortunately cannot accommodate cancellations and refunds at this time. Because we are still operating at an on-demand capacity and depend on commitments in order to hold sessions, we are also not able to accommodate date changes or exchanges. We hope to be able to offer this in the near future.

  • You must be 16+ and accompanied by a guardian if under 18.

  • We often take photos and videos during experiences at the Drawing Room. By entering the event space, you are consenting to appearing in content that may be used for marketing and promotional purposes.

If you are not comfortable with this, please let a staff member know when you arrive.

  • Yes, the creative membership gets you access to the art materials available in the studio, but you can bring additional materials to use in the studio. You are responsible for the cleanup of your station/surfaces you use during open studio hours. We just ask that you let someone know if you are bringing sharp/potentially dangerous items into the studio (glass, sewing needles, etc.) so that we can be extra careful to look out for them when cleaning, etc. Oil paints, solvents, and other materials that create hazardous fumes are currently not allowed. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Clean-up is included in events and classes. For open-studio hours, clean-up is the responsibility of each member (and their guest) during open-studio hours. This includes any utensils or cups/mugs that were used during your stay. Thanks for your help keeping our community space tidy!

  • Unfortunately we do not currently have the space to store your unfinished projects between visits. If making ceramics, you’ll need to complete your piece for firing in the same day.

  • Like most monthly memberships, we can only prevent future charges by cancelling your membership prior to an upcoming charge. We cannot refund charges that have already been processed. You can always adjust and manage your own membership status here.

  • After you leave The Living Room, your clay pieces go through many steps to become ceramic art that will last forever. This process takes 3-4 weeks. You will receive an email once your pieces are ready! See this page for more details and your pickup/delivery options.
